Academic Disqualification

Students who have previously been on academic notice may be subject to academic disqualification if either their ºÚÁÏÊÓÆµCI and/or Cumulative/Overall GPA falls below the minimum GPA based on their class level:

Class Level - Determined by Units Completed	Minimum ºÚÁÏÊÓÆµCI and Overall GPAs Needed to Avoid Academic Disqualification
Freshmen (0-29 units)	1.50
Sophomores (30-59 units)	1.70
Juniors (60-89 units)	1.85
Seniors (90 or more units)	1.95

Academic Disqualification means that you are no longer a student at ºÚÁÏÊÓÆµCI. However, if you want to return to ºÚÁÏÊÓÆµCI to complete your degree, you can work towards raising your GPA(s) back to 2.0 and petition for reinstatement.

Options After Academic Disqualification

I was academically disqualified at the end of the most recent semester and would like to appeal my disqualification.

If you recently received notification that you were academically disqualified and you experienced extenuating circumstances outside of your control that impacted your academic performance, you may be able to appeal your disqualification. A successful appeal will result in your academic standing changing to continued on academic notice.

The deadline to submit a Disqualification Appeal for Spring 2025 is June 30, 2025.

I was academically disqualified more than 1 semester ago OR I did not appeal/my appeal was not approved.

If the deadline to appeal your disqualification has passed, you did not submit an appeal, or you submitted an appeal and it was not approved, it is still possible for you to return to ºÚÁÏÊÓÆµCI through the process of reinstatement.

Reinstatement is the process that allows students who were previously academically disqualified to return to ºÚÁÏÊÓÆµCI as regular students and resume coursework toward their bachelorâ€™s degree.

To be eligible for reinstatement, academically disqualified students must raise both their ºÚÁÏÊÓÆµCI and Overall GPAs to 2.0 or higher.
