Celebrate the heart of Binghamton during Harpur Week 2025
A weeklong series of events will showcase the University鈥檚 oldest and largest school
Celebrate all things Harpur during Harpur College Week, which runs from Nov. 10 to 14 on the 黑料视频 campus.
And there鈥檚 a lot to celebrate! Harpur College of Arts and Sciences is the intellectual heart of Binghamton, with more than 60 degree programs in the School of the Arts, natural sciences and mathematics, humanities, social sciences and more. In 1950, Harpur became one of the first liberal arts colleges in the State University of New York system and it鈥檚 been building on its reputation ever since.
Harpur Week provides opportunities for students to learn more about the University鈥檚 oldest and most academically diverse school and have plenty of fun along the way.
Events are open to the entire campus community. Some may have attendance limits; students should register through B-Engaged. For an official list of events and to register, visit the website.
Monday, Nov. 10
Sociology majors, get a jump on your next step during 鈥Your Sociology Degree at Work: Mapping your internship strategy鈥 from 9:45 to 11:15 a.m. in UU-215. Make sure to bring a laptop or other device to this interactive workshop, which will give you the information you need to apply for internships in the field.
Grab some coffee, tea, cocoa or cider during a free beverage break from 11 a.m. to noon outside the Library entrance.
Then, head over to the Majors, Minors and Munchies Advising Fair from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Old Union Hall to explore the many fields of study available at Harpur College. At the same time, the Harpur College Week Popup Shop in the Union Tillman lobby will be offering a variety of products made by Harpur students, including jewelry, baked goods and more.
Did you know that 黑料视频 offers more than 50 education abroad programs, and more than 600 options are available through SUNY? Learn more during the Education Abroad Drop-in Advising session from 1 to 4 p.m. in Old Champlain 240. Then, finish the day with an intriguing discussion of 鈥Studying American Religions in Uncertain Times鈥 from 1:15 to 2:15 p.m. at a location to be announced.

Learn more about the political science major and where it can take you during a Political Science Discussion panel from 5 to 6 p.m. in UU-103, featuring political science graduates. After the panel discussion, stick around for Political Science Unfiltered from 6 to 7 p.m.; at this student-only event, ask anything and everything you want to know about the program.
Wednesday, Nov. 12
Learn how to get involved in Harpur research from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. in UU-324. Hear from fellow Harpur students across different fields, and learn about research funding opportunities from Beth Polzin, associate director of the External Scholarships and Undergraduate Research Center.
Education Abroad Drop-In Advising continues from 1 to 4 p.m. in Old Champlain 240. Also on Tuesday, join International Student and Scholar Services from 2 to 3 p.m. for a Craft-ernoon, featuring easy crafts you can make to destress.
Go from Zero to 鈥淕uten Tag!鈥 from 5 to 6 p.m. in CW-108 during a 90-minute crash course in German, where you鈥檒l pick up useful phrases and expressions. Then, Christopher P. Davey, a Visiting Assistant Professor in Political Science, will discuss the current conflict between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda during a book launch discussion from 6 to 8 p.m. in the AM 189 Lecture Hall.
Come to the November installment of Common Ground to see creative writing students read their work from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Old O鈥機onnor Hall Alumni Lounge. Or, check out a Writing Extravaganza! from 7 to 8 p.m. in Appalachian Room 111 (the Dining Hall in Mountainview), where you鈥檒l celebrate and workshop different kinds of writing, from gratitude journaling and creative writing to resumes, academic writing and more.

Education Abroad Drop-In Advising continues from 1 to 4 p.m. in Old Champlain 240. You can also learn about the English Department鈥檚 five-week Study Abroad program in London from 5 to 6 p.m. in LN 2449.
Visiting artist Aurora Andrews will present a lecture about her artistic practice, followed by an opening reception for her solo exhibition in the Rosefsky Gallery; the lecture runs from 5 to 6 p.m. in Lecture Hall 7, while the gallery opening is from 6 to 7 p.m. in FA 259. Or, enjoy pizza and perspectives from 7 to 9 p.m. in Academic A G023, with a screening of the documentary The Woman from the Bubble.

The Department of Asian and Asian American Studies is holding an open house from 12 to 1 p.m. in the University Union鈥檚 Fireplace Lounge; learn about courses, majors, minors and more. During that same time period, you can also learn more about the Russian Studies program in the Bartle Library lobby.

Binghamton Codes! is hosting a mini-hackathon for Digital and Data Studies and HARP 150/151 students to deepen their coding skills from 2 to 3:30 p.m. in IR-117, the Binghamton Codes! Coding Center. From 3 to 5 p.m. in the Center of Excellence, learn about the real-world challenges and opportunities climate scientists face from Heidi Roop, director of the University of Minnesota鈥檚 Climate Adaptation Partnership.
